Airgas Reports Third Quarter EPS of $0.76, 13% Growth over Prior Year

RADNOR, PA – January 28, 2009 – Airgas, Inc. (NYSE: ARG), the largest U.S. distributor of industrial, medical and specialty gases, and welding, safety and related products, today reported growth in sales, operating income and earnings, as well as strong free cash flow* for its third quarter ended December 31, 2008.

Quarterly net earnings grew to $62.9 million, or $0.76 per diluted share, compared to $56.8 million, or $0.67 per diluted share, in the prior year, representing a 13% increase in earnings per share. The prior year quarter included $0.01 per diluted share of integration expense primarily associated with the acquisition of Linde's U.S. packaged gas business, and a one-time $0.01 per diluted share tax benefit related to a change in state tax law.

Airgas Lowers Third Quarter Earnings Guidance

RADNOR, PA - January 8, 2009 -- Airgas, Inc. (NYSE: ARG) today lowered earnings guidance for its third quarter ended December 31, 2008. The Company now expects fully diluted earnings per share for its third quarter to be in the range of $0.74 to $0.76, an increase of 10% to 13% over the prior year third quarter earnings of $0.67 per share. The previously announced range was $0.82 to $0.84 per share.

"War" of a Tasty Sort at the DaVinci Science Center

It was a war involving the tastiest of confections today in Allentown. Staffers from the DaVinci Science Center got together for the first-ever "Ice Cream Wars 2009." The eight team competiton pitted amateur ice cream makers against each other in a bracket-style tournament.

And the winning dish was... Vanilla, created by the DaVinci Science Center's Education Manager, Karen Knecht.

All of the entries were graded on creativity, taste and presentation. Airgas Incorporated helped make the event possible. WFMZ's Jaccii Farris emceed the "Wars", which was a long time in the making for the center.

Airgas Completes Acquisition of Great Lakes Oxygen

RADNOR, PA – January 5, 2009 – Airgas, Inc. (NYSE: ARG) today announced that effective at the close of business on December 31, 2008, it has completed the acquisition of Great Lakes Oxygen, also doing business as Welder’s Supply, Westside Welders Supply, Great Lakes Propane, and Lake Erie Iron and Metal.

Great Lakes Oxygen, a distributor of industrial gas and welding supplies, was formed in 1982. The company generates annual revenues in excess of $15 million through locations in Cleveland, Painesville and Brook Park, Ohio.
